About the Club

Mission Statement:

"Working to create a rich environment in which students, faculty, staff and community members can express interest while learning about Deaf people, American Sign Language, and Deaf Culture."

Background

The Deaf Culture and American Sign Language Club was first presented to the Student Senate in the academic year of 2010 - 2011 and passed.  Since, club numbers have increased from four to 30 members.  Also, the number events were increased due to the amount of interest people have shown in American Sign Language.

Our club does not require anyone to know sign language.  Through the club, if not an ASL class, you will learn signs from a novice to a intermediate level.  We want to give the opportunity to anyone that expresses interest in the language, culture, and club.
